Happenstand - Bay Area - Restroom No. 5

Liss & Lake perform Restroom No. 5 as part of Subversive Complicity.

Liss & Lake are a collaborative team working in site-specific performance, installation, and intervention since 2001. Operating in more or less public places (public bathrooms, shopping malls, office buildings, galleries, etc.) Liss & Lake act as "rest coaches" providing moments of and opportunity for intimacy, calm, and comfort (or sometimes dis-comfort) in the sometimes harsh adult world. In May and April 2008, Liss & Lake provide the service of reading from magazines, newspapers and books to people waiting at bus stops in downtown San Francisco. Wearing their rest-coach uniforms and bringing along a mobile library in a suitcase they try to lighten up the rush hour. Performance dates are May 9th and May 13th. In addition they will set up a rest area at The Lab for the duration of Subversive Complicity running from May 1 - 24.
