It's been forty New Year’s Eves since the legendary performance, drag, and hippie ensemble the Cockettes first began staging their glitter-draped spectacles in North Beach. The group marks this milestone year with The Cockettes Fortieth Anniversary Extravaganza. To join in the celebration and mark the opening of this show's run, SFMOMA hosts an evening of rare Cockettes' film, including Tricia's Wedding and Elevator Girls in Bondage. Cockettes' members and friends join us to introduce the program and to discuss many of their most magical moments. A special after-party, hosted by Weimar New York impresario Earl Dax’s Tingel Tangle Club, follows at TBA.
$5 general; free for SFMOMA members or with museum admission.
