Paul Lewis will present a dozen projects by his New York–based firm, Lewis.Tsurumaki.Lewis (LTL), ranging from speculative urban strategies to buildings, interiors, and installations. LTL takes an “optimistic” approach to architecture in which constraints are twisted into the trajectory of the design. Constantly asking what-if questions, it seeks opportunistic exchanges among program, form, material, budget, and code.
LTL has completed academic, institutional, residential, and hospitality projects throughout the United States and has exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, and the Venice Architecture Biennale. Current projects include a contemporary art center in Austin and a villa in Ordos, Inner Mongolia. Lewis is also an assistant professor at Princeton University.
The Architecture Lecture Series is funded by McCall Design Group; Jensen Architects; ARCH Drafting and Art Supplies; GCI Inc.; Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, Inc.; Perkins+Will; Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP; and SRG Partnership.
